| The Mighty Griffin Battalion’s Inspiring Leaders Give Back to the Community On Saturday March 14, 2009, the Mighty Griffin Battalion of Fairfield Central High School participated in their semi annual Operation Clean Sweep. Operation Clean Sweep is a communityservice project that allows the JROTC cadets to gain character and to bond as a family by giving back to the community. The cadets volunteered to sacrifice a rainy Saturday morning to collect trash from around the school grounds and along the highway to the district office. The cadets were enthusiastic about collecting 21 bags of trash. The Battalion Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Nikita Pete states, “I was very pleased to have so much participation from the battalion even through the cold and wet weather. I appreciate their initiative and motivation to work together as a team in order to get the job done. I would like to thank each cadet for being a part of this prestigious organization that promotes leadership, teamwork, character, relationships, and responsibility that lead to becoming a worthy member of our society.” On behalf of the cadet corps, I would like to share with you this quote: “A good leader inspires people to have confidence in the leader; a great leader inspires people to have confidence in themselves.” – Unknown. “Great job cadets! You have proven that you all have potential to become a great leader. We also would like to give special thanks to our Senior Army Instructor, LTC Thomas King and our Army Instructor, MSG David Taft for being an active part in assisting and preparing us for future endeavors. Without them, none of this would have been possible.” |
