Each year organizations such as Keep Fairfield Beautiful and Palmetto Pride join millions of people all across
America in the Great American Clean Up campaign. Keep Fairfield Beautiful is proud to announce Fairfield
County's Great American Clean Up totals on litter removal, recycling and beautification efforts. We would like to
thank each and every sponsor and volunteer who helped to fulfill these totals.
There were a total 456 volunteers involved in all KFB programs in the past year. Those programs involved
people of all backgrounds and ages completing 21,459 hours of voluntary service. The average volunteer
completed 5 hours within the year. That is the same time I spend a week watching the news. A little time and
effort can make a huge difference in our community! Please consider becoming a volunteer, or sponsoring our
Great American Clean Up programs now. KFB Projects joined together many new partners to help accomplish
this task. through Keep America Beautiful/Home Depot Injet cartridge recycling program and Sprint Wipe Out
Wireless Waste Program..cell phone community collection program. Honda Cars of Columbia, Sam
Arnette/Nationwide Insurance, Fairfield County, Winnsboro Downtown Development, and the Town of
Winnsboro were among Keep Fairfield Beautiful’s Great American local sponsors It is through our local support
that we can create change!
Volunteers collectively gathered 49,445 lbs. of solid waste, recycled 6,210 lbs of used clothing, distributed 2,000
seeds, planted 3 trees and recycled 2 junk cars. In the South Winnsboro area clean up alone 17,895 lbs. of
litter and solid waste were removed.
Keep Fairfield Beautiful’s 2006 total cost benefit ratio is 3.23. This means that for every government dollar
spent their return is $3.23.
Keep Fairfield Beautiful will continue to strive to educate citizens on the importance of recycling, reducing waste
and enhancing and maintaining Fairfield County’s natural beauty. We implore you to join with us in our Great
