2009

On behalf of the Keep Fairfield Beautiful Board and Fairfield
County 4-H, I would like to personally thank the The Town of
Winnsboro Water and Sewer plants; Canoes for Kids and the
Fairfield County Clemson Extension. DHEC,  Becky McSwain,
Aubrey Haynes, Bobby Brown, Surveyor, explained the history of
the Reservoir;  Bobby Adams, Master Naturalist explored the
importance of trees in our environment. I also want to thank John
Fantry, atty for recently supporting the 4-H20 Environmental
Camp held at the Town of Winnsboro Reservoir. Thanks also to
Cindi Armstrong and Crystal Baughman...super volunteers!  Their
time and talents helped us to be able to educate children on the
importance of one of our most abundant natural resources;
“WATER”. " You helped us to make learning fun! "
The recent drought and high temperatures have highlighted the
need to educate everyone on ways they can conserve water. At
the 4-H20 Camp, children learned about how water is used,
tested, cleaned of impurities, and then released back into our
streams.  In Clemson Extension’s watershed demonstration, the
kids also learned how each of us can take responsibility and do
our part to keep pollution and litter from ending up in our water
sources.
Fishing, canoing, swimming, using microscopes, hiking in the
woods, and visiting the Winnsboro water and waste treatment
plants helped to make learning “fun” at the 2008  4-H20 camp.
Again, thanks for making a difference in our kids, and our world.

Sincerely,
Mary Urias

4-H Volunteer Leader and
Executive Director, Keep Fairfield Beautiful
