Every spring, PalmettoPride, South Carolina’s anti-litter organization and parent company to Keep South
Carolina Beautiful, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful, Inc., coordinates the Great American
Cleanup™, a localized cleanup, beautification and community improvement program. Recognized as the
nation’s largest cleanup event, millions of residents across the country take part in this springtime
campaign to clean up and beautify communities all across America. The national event lasts from March 1
– May 31. This year we are focusing on the month of April for the Great American Cleanup of South
Carolina.
The Great American Cleanup™ is a fun, educational, outdoor, springtime activity! In addition to organizing
a litter clean up, your group can also take part in other green events of your choice. If you want to recycle
cans, or plant a garden or cleanup your neighborhood or park – we can help you with supplies to get it
done. If you want to clean up your neighborhood and then plant flowers in the median, you can do that too.
(There are guidelines from the local Department of Transportation  for roadsides.)You can do one event or
many.
This year, Keep Fairfield Beautiful will be awarding 13 KFB PLANT PRIDE GRANTS to start a community
project of your own. These grants are part of a grant received from a Palmetto Pride Community Pride
Grant. To participate: Organize a group, pick an area to cleanup, pick a day and complete a KFB Plant
Community Pride Grant application to help support your project. If your project is selected, your group will
receive $500.
Keep Fairfield Beautiful was awarded a grant through Palmetto Pride to offer 13- $500 Plant Community
Pride Grants this year. These grants are open to Neighborhood Watch groups and other civic groups who
would like to “BE THE CHANGE” in their community.
